Sermon Series 112 Hyssop

In the old testament in Leviticus 14 a living bird was dipped in the blood of the sacrifice and was mixed with hyssop. In John 19 in the new testament aa sponge was filled with vinegar& dipped in Hyssop and given to Jesus on the cross. The blood and Hyssop are purifying tools of the spirit of god. Jesus explains to us in the Sermon about clean and unclean in the old and new testament as men and women and children of the king. What is clean meekness ,patience , peace kindness.We see this in 1 Peter 3: 1-9. Jesus showed us these things in his walk on earth. So just as the Jews & the holy place was reconciledby the sacrifice , Jesus sacrifice reconciled the world. Jesus needs us to push through to continue in cleanliness of our hearts and minds and spirit by walking in his holy example amen.

Jesus leads us to discover what it means to be clean and unclean in Leviticus 14 & Luke 16 & Ephesians 4 . In the perspective of the old testament we see the physical examples and characteristics Jesus wants us to see as unclean and clean. In the perspective of the new testament we see the spiritual and mental examples or characteristics of unclean and clean. Jesus wants us to see the clarity and what can be the simplicity of life by abiding in him. Treating others how we want to be treated is one of our goals & we see Jesus's example in Luke 16 with the healing of the 10 Lepers who are considered unclean. Romans 8 Jesus tells us that there is no condemnation to them which are in christ . In Ephesians 4 it sais let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamour and evil speaking be put away from you with all malice. And be he kind to one another , tender hearted , forgiving one another , even as God for Christs sake hath forgiven you.

In our walk with Jesus we sacrifice many things. Jesus has asked us to sacrifice our time & our lives Jesus instructs to live clean lives . As men women and children of the kingdom we seek understanding of what and how we are to sacrifice & what is considered clean and unclean. In Romans 12 Jesus instructs us to make our bodies a living sacrifice. In the old testament where our study has been in Leviticus 11 & 12 Jesus instructs us on what animals are considered clean and unclean. In chapter 12 he starts to instruct us on our bodies and what can make us unclean and how we can become clean. Jesus leads to Ephesians 5 where he tells us to be followers of God & walk in love. That walk in love is our clean behavior in the perspective of the new testament ,as well as the way that we speak to each other ,thinking soberly & showing patience in everything that we do. Jesus is constantly edifying us in these areas.Pray seek & search with us . Amen.
